Hello to all my grade 5 friends. I hope this blog finds you healthy and maybe a little settled into a routine at home. It has been extremely trying times for everyone so my message is to just relax and do what you can with school work. We have worked so hard at school so a few weeks off won't harm our progress. We all work so hard in the classroom.
Please be safe with your family. Practise your manners and keep yourself busy with things to do that you enjoy. I miss all of you!

Hi Everyone, I hope all are well and that you continue to stay healthy. I am sending home a homework booklet for the students to keep up their studies over the break. It contains some spelling and Math. The math we will only have time to quickly review when we are back in class in April. If your child has any questions or concerns, please write a note on the paperwork so that I can review it later. We will be presenting our Book Reports when we return as well. I have attached the checklist for the book report in case any students misplace their copy. Have a wonderful and restful holiday. Mrs. Moss Paper bag book report
I items are in the bag to help retell the story: You may draw only 2 of these pictures to be your items. 1. Item 1 is about the main character 2. Item 2 is about the main setting 3. Item 3 is about a problem, crisis or event in the story 4. Item 4 is about the solution or ending to the story The outside front cover of the bag should have your name, the author of the book and the illustrator. The picture should relate to an event or picture from the book. The right side of the bag should have characters drawn from the book. It should also have descriptions for them. The left side of the bag should include a picture of the setting, It needs to also include the time (past, present or future), place and context (what we need to understand or accept to follow the story line - this could be magic, space travel, imaginary friends etc.) The left side of the bag includes the problem or resolution. This should be a paragraph explaining the main problem in the story and how this problem was resolved. The back side is your summary of the main events in chronological order. Stick to the main ideas and avoid getting side tracked by small details. Be sure to include the beginning, the middle and the end. Describe the items in your bag that you have included. Each item should have a purpose of why you included it and not something else. What does the item mean to the main character or the story line? Please practice speaking about your book report. You should be able to talk about the items in your bag using only cue cards as references. We will begin presentations on March 21st. |
